A young Dr. Mabuse contemplates an early plot for world domination.
Dr. Mabuse is a brilliant criminal mastermind who counts among his goals, total world domination. He began his career as a highly respected psychiatrist. Under this guise, he perpetrated some of the most diabolical criminal plots the world has ever known.
Many of his talents lend themselves well to a megalomaniacal lord of the underworld. He is a master of disguise. This allows him to blend with the social elite and he is currently a member of the Alta Club under a pseudonym. He also has formidable hypnotic and mind-reading skills and is an accomplished economist, which allows him to subvert world economies.
Mabuse first appeared on the scene in Berlin in 1922. He masterminded a counterfeiting scam aimed at crushing the Weimar Republic. He also, through the use of his vast intellect, controlled the stock market, further plunging the German financial base into chaos.
His plot was discovered and Mabuse descended into total madness. Authorities carted him off to a insane asylum.
Unable to keep a good man down, in 1933 Mabuse ran his criminal organization from the confines of the lunatic asylum. During this time he also wrote his treatise "Mastery of Crime." In it he devotes several chapters to destroying every component of government and details a section on crimes "whose only effect is to cause horror."
With the authorities hot on his trail, Mabuse unexpectedly died in his cell. This was only a ruse, because he had picked up the fine art of passing freely into the bodies of mortal men.
After 1933 was a slack time in Mabuse's career and he disappeared from the who's who list of mad criminal geniuses. He remained forgotten for thirty years.
He returned with a vengeance in the sixties and formulated a series of brilliant plots to bring the world to its knees. However, the meddling of police and other busy bodies always stopped him short of his goal of total global domination.
Mabuse has been fairly quiet for the past forty years. Most figured he retired or was killed by a disgruntled henchman or something like that. In actuality, he moved to Utah mainly because it reminded him of the alpine climes of his native country.
He recently started the Utah Gothic web site as one cog in his new, incredibly complex, plot for world domination. Mabuse is a frequent participant in Utah government and its social scene, but is hard to spot because he is always disguised. Mabuse is also an active member of the Gray Panthers.
